Thanks PAmining for another well done video documentary. This Komatsu 830E is a very impressive haul truck for sure. This truck has been the only really serious competitor to the CAT 793 haul truck. And even though the sales numbers are impressive for the 830E, the 793 series has done significantly better. Without a doubt both the Komatsu and the CAT are top of the line in the 240 ton class.Whenever I discuss haul trucks for mining applications, I always remember the phrase that many people use to describe the CAT 793. They refer to it as THE GOLD STANDARD. To me that says a lot. I’m also a big fan of mechanical drive haul trucks.Take Good Care.

Well I learned something,I didn't realize that they were diesel electric just like train's,however 100 ton cat is the biggest I've been around.

I am kind of surprised that this machine does not have that large of an electrical system to run all the work lights without needing a standalone generator. Sounds like there could be a story behind that?

Thanks PAmining for putting together another superb video. I have been a fan of the DEMAG brand for a long time. I believe it was DEMAG that really pushed the boundaries on large, mining size hydraulic excavators. The company was also involved with the development of ultra high capacity mobile cranes. DEMAG was responsible for many technical advancements in both the excavator and crane fields. Probably the only negative comment I heard about their machines, was the cost of parts.Supposedly the cost of parts was much higher than some of their competitors - such as O&K.Getting back to your video doc. , I appreciate that you went into a lot of detail, about this big DEMAG backhoe. I’m looking forward to the next video. Take Good Care.

You can definitely tell they used the same engineering as a diesel electric Locomotive. Especially when you opened the electrical cabinet

As soon as the loader gets the bucket full and gets in position the truck drivers need to be pushing the bucket up in the air to get loaded quicker and get more loads

I’ve watched videos of a number of these hydraulic shovel fronts in various sizes, and the cable machines seem to be faster and more powerful. What is your take on this,being deeply imbedded in the industry? Thanks for the videos and take care.

Out of the 7 bachhoe 5110B excavators produced, two of them were found here in Ethiopia at Midroc Gold Mining, and I have had the privilege to inspect this historical machine recently. One is on a breakdown, and the other was working, but during my stay there it failed and was under maintenance.
